Brand & editorial direction

Identity, voice and art direction that hold together across every touchpoint, so your brand reads as one thing from the first post to the packaging.

Brand and editorial, together#

A brand is more than a logo. It is the way you look, the way you speak and the way your pictures feel, repeated consistently until people recognise you before they read your name.

I work on all three. The visual identity gives you a recognisable form. The verbal identity gives you a voice. Editorial direction decides what you show and how, so every campaign, product page and post adds to the same story instead of starting a new one.

What the work covers#

Visual identity#

Logo and wordmark, typography, colour, layout principles and the graphic elements that make your materials recognisable at a glance.

Verbal identity#

Positioning, tone of voice, naming and the key messages, written down with examples so anyone on your team can write in the brand voice.

Art direction#

Photography and imagery style, shoot briefs and direction on set or in post, so every picture belongs to the brand.

Editorial direction#

How you tell stories over time: content pillars, campaign concepts and the layouts that carry them on your site, social and print.

Editorial first#

My reference points are editorial: fashion and outdoor brands, independent film studios and magazines that make every page feel considered. That means restraint, strong typography, space, and images given room to work.

Fewer, better things, said clearly and repeated with conviction.

It also means copy that sounds like a person, not a brochure. Minimal and specific beats loud and generic.

Built to be used#

A brand only works if your team can apply it without me in the room. Every project ends with guidelines written for the people who will use them, templates for the things you make most often, and a handover session. Where it helps, I stay on as an editorial lead for launches and campaigns.

How we work#

A complete identity takes six to ten weeks. Smaller pieces, like a tone of voice or an art direction guide, can be done on their own in two to three weeks.

  1. Immerse

    Weeks 1–2

Workshops with founders and team, a review of your market and competitors, and conversations with customers. We agree on what the brand needs to say and to whom.

  2. Strategy

    Week 2–3

Positioning, personality and the core idea are written down and agreed before any design begins.

  3. Identity design

    Weeks 3–6

Two or three directions are explored and presented in context, on real applications. One is chosen and refined.

  4. Voice and imagery

    Weeks 5–7

Tone of voice and art direction are developed alongside the identity so everything is designed as one system.

  5. Guidelines and launch

    Weeks 7–10

Guidelines, templates and files are delivered with a handover session. I support the launch so the brand arrives as intended.

Questions#

Do I need a full rebrand or just a refresh?

Often a refresh is enough: keeping what people already recognise and fixing what holds the brand back. The first workshop is designed to answer that question honestly before you commit to a larger project.

How many logo options will I see?

Usually two or three distinct directions, each shown on real applications rather than on a white page. Fewer, well-developed options lead to better decisions than a wall of logos.

Can you write the copy for our website?

Yes. Verbal identity work includes key messages and example copy, and I can write or direct the copy for your website and launch materials so the voice is right from day one.

Do you direct photoshoots?

Yes. I write shoot briefs, help choose photographers and styling, and can direct on set or review selects and edits remotely.

How much does a brand identity cost?

Every project is priced on its scope after a short call. You get a fixed quote and a written plan before any work starts, so there are no hourly surprises. Smaller pieces of work, like an audit or a single flow, start from a few days.

Do you work with clients outside Kerala?

I am based in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, and work with teams across India and abroad. Most work happens remotely over shared Figma files and short calls; for teams in Kerala I am happy to meet in person for workshops and research.

Ready for a brand that holds together?

Tell me about your company, where the brand is today and where you want it to go. I reply within two working days.
